The Venue

A sustainable and yet so grand incredible retreat venue situated on one of Sri Lanka’s most famous and beautiful lakes yet just a short journey to the beach - the best of both worlds!

Our venue is relatively new and was built specifically for YTT’s & retreats. Every room has some sort of lake view from the top floor private suites, to the ground floor king rooms. The yoga shala also overlooks the expansive lake and gardens. The main living area has a beautiful open plan lounge and dining area, with the most incredible infinity pool again overlooking our tranquil lake.

The venue is committed to rewinding and sustainability. All meals will be created with fresh crop from the garden or locally sourced. It also powers the property on solar power, and water is collected via rain water in huge tanks and treated in an environmentally friendly way in its own treatment centre.

The owners are themselves wonderful yoga teachers who built this space with you and me in mind. From years of running retreats they know exactly what the space needed to hold, how it should function and what was important and what could be let go of. As many of you know I pick my venues very carefully, each space is important to how your retreat unfolds - the space for you to not need to think about a single thing, but be in within a constant state of flow.

We are situated in the southern province, around a 2 hour journey from the airport. The dry seasons here run from November to April, so we will be sure to have wonderful weather and plenty of sunshine. This part of Sri Lanka is also called the wet lands - this means that isn’t unbearably hot even when the temperatures are high.

There is so much to see and do, so much to explore, learn to surf - I know the best certified instructors. Visit the jungle, see elephants in the wild, enjoy a day trip to Galle, experience Ayurvedic treatments and massage. Of course yoga, meditation, movement, stillness, self enquiry and plenty of it. You will not regret your visit I promise.

You will see many Buddhist temples as this is the most worshiped religion in SL. Many yoga teachings derive directly from Buddhist texts and we will be sure to respect and acknowledge this during our retreat as we take our daily movement, meditation and experiential practices.

A NOTE ON SRI LANKA - Sri Lanka is a resilient nation or warm, intelligent and kind people. Over the years they have been through many situations, most recently a huge political change in power which is said to be a knock on effect of the pandemic. Since returning to Sri Lanka twice since their economic crisis I can only describe the resurgence and prosperity of these people as magnificent. Now a thriving island with beautiful beaches, lush jungle and kind wonderful people, there is nowhere else id rather return to.
