It all started when…

Working as a womenswear designer for ten years had led to numerous burnouts. Thriving on my competitive nature and a desire for success no matter what the cost. Each new designer I worked for was a new opportunity to start again and showcase my talents however unfortunately always led to the same repetitive spiral of self doubt. By the time I was working within my final design job which was by far the most fulfilling my heart had already chosen its new home in yoga. I knew that it would be my path one way or another, but only fear of not being ready or even worse not good enough held me back.

Eventually I knew in my bones that it was time to take the leap of faith, and trust myself and what I was deeply capable of, and this time it was a forever commitment to my own work, my self work, and what I could offer out into the world to help others.

It started with the first 200hrs in Ashtanga Vinyasa & Rocket in India, training in all of the foundations of what yoga as we know it is deeply rooted in. Fascinated and hungry to learn more this was shortly followed by 100hrs of both Yin and then Mandala and finally Rocket 1,2, & 3 in Thailand all within the first two years completing my 500hrs advanced trainings in a relatively short space of time. My initial trainings were all completed with ‘The Yoga People’ who really helped me discover my roots, and who I have later gone onto assist their 200hrs for the following years.

Later trainings with the incredible Meghan Currie have heavily influenced my practice and the art of feeling the present moment and to move slow and strong, while training with The Awakening Yoga Academy has inspired fluid and free movement breath work and strength. Both of which yoga schools I am hoping to continue to train further with in the very near future.

What inspires me most is the simple gift of life and its ability to mould with openness when we believe it is stuck. There is always a way to shift, to change perspective when you allow it the chance, it often require a catalyst or a step back. My father always told me that I have been in a rush since the day I was born, and in this essence for thirty years I was missing out on life’s tiny details (that matter hugely), I never gave myself real space to discover who I really was. Yoga has taught me to slow down, to live within the process that is inherently beautiful. That it’s not about the product but the process, and when you loose yourself in that moment, that space…. this is where the magic can be found, and that magic has been with you all along.
